dresovi prodaja Wojciech Szczesny may have been a source of frustration for Arsenal fans at times, but he leaves the club as something of a cult hero. After 11 years in north London, two of which spent on loan at AS Roma, the Poland international has joined Juventus for £10 million in a four-year deal.Leaving Arsenal must have been a hard decision for Szczesny and that much was apparent in his first press conference as a Juventus player.
Szczesny was asked by a reporter whether he regretted the manner of his departure, to which he gave an emotional response and almost broke down.”It’s a difficult question [whether I regret how things ended at Arsenal]. I spent 11 years there,” the 27-year-old replied before asking his translator for another question.Szczesny grew up an Arsenal fan idolising the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and David Seaman, who he referred to in a rather beautiful Instagram tribute, which you can see here.He departs the Gunners with some fond memories, one being when he started against Barcelona in the shock 2-1 win in the 2010/11 Champions League.
Szczesny and Jack Wilshere were just 20 and 19-years-old respectively at the time but produced magnificent displays at the Emirates after being thrown in the deep end.Another fond memory – especially amongst fans – was when Szczesny epically trolled Tottenham on Instagram at the end of the 2015/16 season. In the video below, the Polish shot-stopper chanted: “It’s happened again, it’s happened again,” in reference to Arsenal finishing above Spurs. However, there is one other moment that Arsenal fans will never forget: when Szczesny absolutely nailed Gareth Bale TWICE in the 2011 north London derby and produced the best reaction. In the video below, Szczesny floors Bale on two separate occasions – both being fair – and reacts by strolling back towards his goal and winking at Johan Djourou. Check it out.SZCZESNY SENDS BALE BACK TO WALESThe video, captioned as: “Will never forget that wink from Szczesny,” just goes to show how much he loved getting one over Tottenham. And for that reason, Arsenal fans adore him. He may not have realised his true potential in north London, but he certainly gave the club’s supporters reason to smile nogometni dresovi za ekipe on numerous occasions.
